About our cacao
Our ceremonial cacao is raw and unroasted which means it contains maximum nutritional goodness and benefit. A far superior superfood than beans that have been roasted, or alkalised.
Our Criollo cacao beans are grown in the Peruvian Amazon.
Our cacao is grown by small farmers who rely on the crop as their main source of income. Most of the harvesting takes place between April and September and is called "la cosecha grande", the big harvest.
The cacao is grown sustainably using the Agroforestry land management system. This method has much less environmental impact than the fertiliser-heavy plantations that are common in West Africa and which cause so much deforestation.
Each cup requires between 10-15 buttons or around 30- 42g.
Simply warm your preferred milk and whisk in the buttons until melted.
Add a little sweetener such as coconut blossom.
Adaptogenic herbs and spices can be added such as Maca powder, turmeric, chilli or cinnamon.
Our ceremonial cacao has conveniently been prepared as buttons for ease of preparation. The average amount of buttons per ceremonial cup is 14 (circa 42g).
Our packaging is fully biodegradable and contains 250g (around 5-6 ceremonial cups).
